10 Events Not to Miss in September

Labor Day Celebration and Trail Race

Trail RaceHappening: Sunday, Sept 4th, 9 am to 9:30 pm USNWC

What’s Cool: There will be a 5k and a 15k trail race to kick off the festivities first thing in the morning. Followed by an entire day of adventure, live music and fun for the whole family. Stick around after the sun goes down for the Labor Day fireworks show along the banks of the lower pond.



7th Annual Sip and Stroll: Art & Wine Festival

Happening: Friday/Saturday, Sept 9-10. EpiCentre

What’s Cool: Artists will have booths set up to display and sell their artwork. Also, over 40 vineyards will be present for wine tasting and local live music will be playing. During the day guests will have the opportunity to try and experience many different wine seminars and tastings.


Mad About Modern Tour of Mid-Century Modern Houses

Happening: Saturday, Sept 10th, 10 to 4 pm. Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

What’s Cool: This ticketed event will allow you to purchase a ticket to Bechtler’s display of “The House That Modernism Built” and the 2016 Mad About Modern home tour for just $25.


Grand Opening of Lenny Boy Brewing Co

Happening: Saturday, September 10, 11-11 pm. 3000 S Tryon St.

What’s Cool: This new facility revolves around the love of kombucha, beer and wild ale. There will be food trucks to help fill your belly, live music and games. All their new merchandise will also be released.


Eat From A Truck Festival

Happening: Saturday, September 10th, 12- 6 pm. AvidXchange Music Factory

What’s Cool: This is one of the Carolina’s largest ever food truck festivals. Over 100 trucks from all over the Southeast will be there. They will also have bouncy houses, an obstacle course and a climbing wall for the kids. Great live music and a beer garden featuring awesome craft beers will also be available to the adults.


Peak to Peak Crowders Climb

Happening: Saturday, September 17, 8 am. Crowders Mountain State Park

What’s Cool: Gaston Residential Services, Inc and Crowders Mountain State Park are hosting a one of a kind (and first of its kind) 11 mile hiking challenge. Get out and enjoy the outdoors with this amazing hike.


Panthers vs San Francisco 49ers: First Regular Season Home Game

Happening: Sunday, September 18th, 1 pm. Bank of America Stadium Panthers-tailgate-flags (1)

What’s Cool: These tickets will go fast! With Cam resigning after an amazing 2015/2016 season, these games will for sure be packed. Welcome back tailgate season!


8th Annual Mecktoberfest

Happening: Friday-Sunday, September 23rd-25th, 11-11 pm. OMB

What’s Cool: A 3 day festival on the grounds of OMB. This dog and family friendly event celebrates the best of German-style food, culture and beer. The international award-winning seasonal Mecktoberfest brew, a classic Marzen amber lager.


Sycamore BrewingPumpkin Fest 2016

Happening: Saturday, September 24, 12-10 pm. Sycamore Brewing

What’s Cool: A celebration of the pumpkin Sycamore Brewing will be bringing out their pumpkin beers. Including their famous ‘Gourd Have Mercy!’ as well as hosting other pumpkin and fall beers from select North and South Carolina breweries. Special pumpkin menu items will be served by the event’s food trucks. Live music will play all day.


Pink Paint Night

Happening: Thursday, September 29th, 4-8:30 pm. NoDa Brewing Company

What’s Cool: This event benefits the Levine Cancer Institute: Project PINK. This is a great way to start off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with food trucks, pink beer, a silent auction and live music. Proceeds from this event will fund local mammograms for uninsured women.
